When I recovered a bit, I walked over to a street light and was stunned to see my time.... 4:25!?!?!
Of course, I have to go to a track to confirm this... but if it's legit I need to think about trying to train up to win the local 5k races. I'm stunned.
Update: I double checked my HR monitor, it seems to be correct and the time looks good. I double checked my distance, it is correct according to mapmyrun.
I'm still skeptical, because that's pretty quick for someone who bikes a good bit and runs a little on the side. I knew I held back with my 5k in May and I've done a good bit more training since that race. A 4:25 mile run on natural ability and limited training means I could get serious and get dangerously close to that magical number 4. Maybe this is why people run :)

Run Forest run :).
Looks like your closing in on them goals now. All this road and running conditioning will probably make the trail riding seem slow when you hit it again, bet you pick up some speed for sure.
FYI... The Hot August Night winner was about a 15:40 time! You'd a been in the top 5 for sure at your pace.
I don't know... 15:40 is FAST. I know there's no way I could run three 5 minute miles. I am going to try to run a 22 minute 5k this week to see if I can hold around a 7 min mile pace for that distance.
Head over to LHS, 4 laps around there nice paved track will give you the exact mile. If you spew chucks aim for the grass.
Hot Summers Night 5k
21:38 by my Polar
6:45 1st mile
13:45 2nd mile
21:38 finish
Looking over the results I'm not even on the results. I think I missed the chip hand out.
Bummer on the 5k sans chip.
