Run (for no particular reason)

Ran two miles at 8 min mile pace and cooled down with a short walk last night. Boring stuff, yeah. My average heartrate was 180. If I can get my two miler to be a 7.5 min mile pace at that same heartrate I'll give the 5k another shot. That should be sufficient for a sub 22 5k. Next week I'm going to start a new running workout. On the Monday I'll run 4 miles at 11 min mile pace. On Wednesday I'll run one mile all out for speed work after an 11 min mile warm up.

Updated Workout: Thanks to Herr Porter's suggested link, I'm changing my workout pace. I'm going to run 4 miles at 8:30 pace on Mondays. Wednesday will an 11 min mile followed by 5 10 second hill sprints. Saturday's will be 5 miles at 9:30. Hopefully that will bore me into cycling more ;)

I think I may have figured out the draw to running. When you're burned out on biking you can run and still feel like you're keeping yourself in shape. Even commuting has bored me to tears as of late.

Find a goal and work towards it. This makes thing easier.

Oh I've got goals:

Become less of a mandolin/guitar hack and more of a musician. Make some more paintings. Sell more paintings. Get down to 3% body fat and run sub 18 minute 5ks. Win a sport mtb race. Become better looking, faster, etc. with minimal effort... etc. ;)

I have no shortage of goals.... I'm just lacking in motivation as of late. I need a guy with a bull horn to yell at me while I each "hobby" du jour.

Every now and then I go for a run and then pay for it dearly for the next few days with full body aches. But it has the same draw for me as cycling...just enjoy the overall thrill of cycling more. I really wich I could commute these days but I have no place to shower downtown.

Throw in a swim and voila! New Sport

BTW I caught some fish camping. I'm addicted now, and have a license for the next year. We should go sometime.

Agree with the Beast, the love for cycling is great but running is so much more convenient. No silly blue skin tight outfit for the reds to heckle. I can damn near destroy myself with a good 60 min run.
