Return trip from work, caught by all 6 stop lights, no water bottle in 90 degree weather... not even really working that hard today. However, the AM ride in was a stunning 16 mph average due to a slight headwind and staying up too late watching Breaking Away.... I guess I am a cycling nerd.

I held this speed with 20 extra pounds of commuting trunk/rack stuff. Strip the bike down and get me out of stop and go traffic and I might be able to averge 24 over 15 miles. All I can say is you better be ready to hang on :)
Dang, Im gonna need to put you on a dropped list. Way to go.
I'd bet you could average 20 mph on a road bike Jim. You would be shocked how fast you can go on an inch wide tire.
