Bike to Nature ride this morning. I was late this morning and saw the group ride by the entrance to my neighborhood as I was finishing the climb out. I spent the next 20 minutes chasing them at 20 mph. I finally was able to take a quick shortcut and wait on them near 378. I felt pretty good and stayed near the front for a good while. I took a nice pull on Wire road and still felt pretty good. Then we took a turn down a hill I had not been on on Calks Ferry. I saw the riders up front tuck. I tucked and passed half of the group. Then WHAMMO... I felt like I was going to soil my bibs and simultaneously spew. I went from running 30 to running 11. I got dropped for the first time ever on a BTN ride and I limped along back into town alone.
[Correction, there was another ride that I was dropped on two years ago when the paceline was 27 mph up hill lead by a Cat 3 rider that dropped all but two of us. I held on for a few miles that day, but after pulling a second time at 27 I was toast :)]
Lesson learned: no barbecue chicken jalapeno pizza for dinner the night before a ride.
Stats:
36 miles
17 mph avg
160 HR avg
1800 cal
Monday Update: Might not have been dinner that took the wind out of my sails after all. I took the family hiking to see waterfalls yesterday and had a similar "sicky" feeling come over me. I may have a bug of some sort.

Ouch!! BTW Go Team Chipotle!!
Atleast you got some good mileage in, you'll bring it home next ride I'm sure. Put the Herrells jersey on, that'll get you moving. I aint been on a ride yet and not been forced to only glimps the back side of the jersey if there was anyone around wearing one :). Heck Id get me one but dont feel worthy, yet.
If you would have drank some of mom's milk, nature's recovery drink, you would have smoaked those guys. Just ask Joe. This reminds me a little of my first solo century with a stop at the halfway point for 4 cheese burgers. I thought I was going to die after that.
