Weekend Rest Day?

My nephew is staying with us this week helping with some chores and spending some time with his aunt and uncle. Yesterday was a "rest day" which included taking the boy and dogs out to Harbison and hiking 4 miles in an hour. Afterwards we recharged with a sonic slush and readied the firearm for some clay shooting action. We headed out to my uncle's farm and shot around 90 rounds. My nephew shot about 80 to 85%, he did great as it was only his second time shooting clay targets. Last time he only broke 3 clays with a box of shells. This time he out shot me, I think I was 70 to 75%. Many clays were killed, sadly more than a few died from the fall and not the lead. However, it was great fun. I sought and attained vengeance on the chessboard after we cleaned up the shotgun and ate dinner. We'll call it Uncle 2, Nephew 1... I'm claiming the hike as well :)

Today will be a long day for me... worked on an etching in the studio, working my day job, then fishing on the Saluda with the nephew, then a 4 mile run. Goals for the week include putting down some sod in the backyard, putting down 50 bails of pine straw, and hauling away a bunch of yard debris. I also think Toby has a great idea tiring his dogs out with a run. One of my pups does not have a real hip, so he's a no go for asphalt running, but Chief is good to go. I think I'll start him on a 1 mile run on my Wednesday tempo run warm up. Border Collies need lots of exercise and Chief's not getting the frisbee time he use to get. His daily walks and weekend hikes just keep him out of the red zone :)
