Injured

Sigh... first real running injury tonight after my warm up with the Chief dog. I started my watch and prepared to lay down a 2 mile 5k goal pace run. I made it about 40 yards before I felt a sharp burn in my right quadriceps. I was forced to backdown considerably. I continued to run at the lower effort thinking that it was a cramp and that it would loosen up, but it never did. By the time I came into the home stretch my right hamstring was starting to feel tight from trying not to hurt my quad. I ended up with a 6:35 mile. I jogged 1/2 a mile and then walked 1/2 a mile. I'll evaluate after the ice and rest. Speedwork is not looking good for the Saturday, and it might be time to get back on the old bike for a recovery weekend. Hopefully it's just a slight strain and stretching and a more thorough warmup will have me in better shape soon.

Oh the bike will bail you out. Get well soon.

Thanks man. I can walk around fine this morning, but stretching the leg reveals that it's pretty tight. It's fairly eye-opening to me that I can run a 6:35 mile all gimpy. It's more proof that I'm not running nearly hard enough when I've "raced". Looks like I'll be enjoying some cool fall air on the bike this weekend.
