Harbison Ride

10 miles on the mountain bike this morning.  It was my first ride on the Cake in about two and a half months.  It seemed to take forever to get to the trail and I was aggravated by having to gear up and drive over.  I'm spoiled to just lacing up my shoes and heading out the door.  I felt pretty good and enjoyed it for about 30 minutes.  Half way through Lost Creek I started to fall back into the same old rut that got me running.  Frankly, I started getting bored.  I'm still pretty burned out on cycling.  I decided to try something new.  I looked down at my 11.5 average and decided to slow down and look at the trees.  I saw some deer.  I rode Firebreak to Crooked Pine and then back to the Jeep.  I ended up with a 9 mph average and did not even care that it was slow.  It was enjoyable to cruise the woods, but I think I'm going to stay away a little while longer.  I never thought I'd think of cycling as cross training, but that's what it seemed like this morning.

Sounds like a nice enjoy the scenary ride. As for the 9 mph avg, thats still faster than I was strolling this morning. I was over by the gazeebo on the new kids trail with the kiddies and though I didnt have the cycle computer it didnt feel like we broke 4 or 5 mph max with "constant" stop/go restarts. Not complaining, I still had a good time and my son actually told me he wanted to go back this time and thats progress. If your still interested in the Asault on Harbison sometime for another cross training session let me know.
