Saturday Trail Ride

I'm planning to ride the expert Race to the River course in the morning with a focus on not hitting the [insert explicative phrase of choice] brakes. I'm looking to start around 8:00 and put in 2 to 2.5 hours of riding. If I feel good I may hit Lost Creek afterwards to make 30 plus miles total.

Update:

Good ride, still slow though.  Jim and I road 25 miles together, he took crooked pine one last time to finish strong.  However, the Jeep was calling my name so I headed out.  I tried to take Toby's advice and not worry about killing it and focus on the fun parts :)  Once again, I crashed pretty hard while wearing my Harrell's jersey.  Seriously, I have crashed EVERY time I've ridden with it.  I bet I can count all crashs on one hand that I was not wearing it over the last 10 years!  This time I clipped a small tree with my bar end dropping into spider woman.  It was also the only crash I've never disengaged from my pedals.  I have minor bruises on shoulder, but it could have been much worse.  A few miles later Jim smacked a good sized tree on a down hill.  He shook it off, but it had that sickening thud sound to it that made me turn around to check on him.  Bruises all around... Monty would have been proud :)

About 26 miles and a shade under 10 mph average.  I road this without Gu.  I felt it too, I'll have to get some more.  No HR on this ride.

Wish I could come. I will be at swim lessons, and working on my own swim in the pool tomorrow. Plus, I think I need a break from the bike. I will have ridden more than 50 miles for the week.

Sounds good, are you still going to meet at the front parking lot though. As long as I dont get any Oncall issues pop up between now and then I'll try to be there.
.... Dont forget the pack :)

Front parking lot > Pick up the course on Crooked Pine.

Just bought a brush to clean my pack properly. It's from like 1998 and has a replacement platypus pouch... old school, but it still works :)

Hope to she you there Jim.

Good ride today, we still kept it going pretty good with minimal stops. That second spider woman lap when you clipped that tree it sounded like a heard of deer taking off thru the brush and knew something happened but was glad to see ya cresting the hill as I was coming back. It just means we had areas where we were pushing it right :). I wonder if the carbon bars hold up to those types of repeated hits, I usually clip them too here and there.
