Road in this morning and got to use my new fancy "father's day gift" computer on my road bike. I rolled the wheel out after I got to work because the table that come with the computer was shorting myself on average speed/ speed in general. I made it to work in 18 minutes, but my average was 17.8. After correction, this was probably closer to 19 mph average. Now I have matching computers on the road and mountain bikes, both with average speed. Thanks to my little girl for the computer and the breakfast in bed :)
Also had the joy of cresting a hill and seeing the blinking tail light of a fellow commuter about 500 yards up. Of course I had to pull him in and eventually pass him. When I caught him I was going to sit on for a few, but I quickly realized that I was late to work and he was doing 17 mph (really 18 mph). I put her in the big ring and passed at around 26 (really 27 mph) making sure that my "attack" stuck. I would love to see some video of two guys dueling it out with trunks on their road bikes as I'm sure it was very funny when I stood up to sprint past him in front of the Waffle House on Hwy 6.
Anyways, it was a nice ride in and hopefully will be a nice ride home. I'm going to see if I can average over 20 on the return.
Update:
I was stopped by every light on the trip home. Going all out, I only managed 18.5 mph even though every time I looked at the computer I was 22+ mph with exception of the one climb by the Lexington Courthouse. I guess all that deceleration and acceleration time really kills your average when the stop light catches you. 18 mins ride time.
One of the dogs was sick last night and kept me up all night. Skipped the commute this morning. Was not too tired to ride in, but too tired to try to pack my work stuff. May have to run the rest of the week instead of cycling.

Way to go keeping that race attitude and realling him in on the commute. Although that would of been a site sounds like your keeping it inline and not taunting the guy to bad like whistling dixie, flintstones or whatever it was we know who did to shifty :). I might need to start picking up the interstate at number 6 to see this action.
I hope that the dogs are okay. Sick kids and dogs are no fun.
