I've gotten out of my routine the last few weeks and I'm working this week on righting the ship before my "abnormal" becomes normal. In the past three weeks I've found several reasons not to ride my bike into work. I can tell that my riding is suffering from lack of acclimatization to the hot weather and I just miss the break up of the day on the bike.
It felt good this morning to be back on the bike even though it was warm. I held an 18 mph average which is about all I can do with the frequent starting and stopping around the Town of Lexington. A six mile one way commute means that you don't have long to warm up or cool down. I'd love to ride the same route after a solid warm up and the roads closed to traffic. Without my 20lbs of rack, trunk, and cloths and no need to worry about getting too sweaty the ride would be quicker for sure. It would be nice not having to sprint from one light to the next, but bike time is still bike time.
