I road the Cake into work today. I dropped my Jeep off to get some service work done last night and decided to ride my mountain bike to work to save my wife from having to make two trips hauling me around. This way when she takes me to pickup my Jeep, I have my mountain bike with me and can ride Harbison after work if the weather holds.Anyways, this baby handles like a tank compared to my road bike. I plow over railroad tracks without a care. I ride through dirt and rock without a second thought. She's slow even with 45 psi in the tires. However, the roar of the knobbies instills fear.
Here are the commute numbers for comparison:
Time on Cake = 25 minutes / Time on road bike = 18 minutes
Max speed on Cake = 28 mph / Max speed on road bike = 43 mph
Avg speed on Cake = 12.6 mph /Avg speed on road bike = 18 mph
Riding in with two bottles of Heed for Harbison and a half filled hydration pack loaded in my backpack reminded me why I bought a rack and trunk for the road machine.

I dropped my truck off yestrday and still waiting for them to finish up so doesnt look like I'll be riding either. Gonna have to try and do my make up ride tomorrow. Good job with the commutting.
