Harrell's Ride

I put in 17 miles tonight and ran out of water half way through lost creek. I decided to head out to lost creek dr and wait at the trail head. Great minds think alike. Monty, Toby, Tom, and Joe all waited for me somewhere on the trail while I patiently waited on them. Sorry guys. It was hot again, but I'm adjusting to the heat a little now. We escaped the much needed rain that was forecast.

two short bottles of Heed

Afternoon after Postscript:

I'll add that while I bailed out to lost creek drive after drinking my two short bottles of Heed... Joe road with ONE bottle. Joe is my new hero for his camel like ability, even Monty drank almost two bottles on this ride.

I also fail to see how in the world these guys ride single track when the woods start getting dark. When I ran out of water, it was getting so dark in the woods that I had to take off my specs. This dried out my contact (that's right, I just wear one) so I had to put my specs back on. I don't get it. I need light to stay on the trail, I need all the help I can get.

Finnally, it was nice to meet Tom. I've added him to the ever growing list of folks that drop me until I can ride with him again and prove otherwise :)

Just bring the hydration pack. What's a few lbs. strapped to your back, when you could dehydrate at any given time. A+ is for an ICE filled bladder nestled on you back as you ride in 95'+ heat. You get a C+ for effort.

Yeah yeah yeah... ;)

Next time I'll run one bottle of Heed and the Camelbak. I even had the Camelbak in the jeep filled up, but forgot to put it on.

C+ effort is about where my riding has been as of late. I'm thinking I need to find a new hobby.

Ive been mixing 2 of those Cammelback Elixer tablets in my pack lately and they work pretty good for me. No sugar content so makes cleaning easy and they have the electrolites and such in them which sounds good anyway :)

Nah just supplement your riding with other activities. A strong cycling base takes some time to build up. Summer is the hardest time to ride here in the SE. It's been in the works for several summers now, but finally I'm paying attention. Take the summer months easy. Kill it in the Spring, Fall, Winter. July & August is a good time to transition into the Fall.

Speaking of other activities, what's your running schedule been like Toby? I wish I could get mentally into running. It just does not do it for me. I need to start making myself go twice a week for 3 milers.
