Harrell's Wednesday Fun

I've ridden the last month's worth of shop rides at a 70% or less pace. I've focused on building up endrance and have not really tired to maintain contact with the group. A few races in a row have shown I'm slow (OK, darn near pokey) for the effort I'm putting out and I'm tired of it. I'm tired of needless braking and hammering out of turns. I'm tired of being one of the last riders to roll up to a stopping point on a group ride. Henceforth, my midweek rides will be ridden at race pace until I get my average up to a respectable 12 mph with Lost Creek and Spider Woman.

I figure the only way to learn the skills to go faster is to push myself to ride faster on training rides. Hopefully the learning curve will level off and I'll increase my speed without having to crush myself in a few weeks. Until then, I'll be the guy riding the thin red line just shy of blowup.

Hope to see you in the parking lot at 6:00.
